A British TV program conducted a study, what was the secret of being slim, with an emphasis on metabolism as a mechanism for weight loss.
Two women who had very different body types participated in the documentation:
- Becky was very tall and thin, even a little underweight
- Jo was shorter than her friend and overweight
They believed that they have different weights because their metabolism were. Both fasted for 12 hours, which measured their metabolism just in the laboratory with a vent. They drank to help some special liquid that measure their metabolism – the total amount of calories consumed and the total number of calories burned throughout the week.
The results showed that both had very similar and low activity, but in fact Jo ate 50% more than they needed. Becky was underweight, simply because they do not eat enough to supply your body with the energy it needs. By their extra weight, had Jo aa higher metabolic rate than lean Becky. This was because more weight requires more effort to move. Jo had. A weight problem not because of a slow metabolism, but because of their eating habits
The documentation showed that a slow metabolism is not always responsible for excessive weight gain. It was also suggested that obese people tend to a higher metabolism than those who are slim and underweight.
It seems that the fact remains: on when we consume more calories than our body needs, we will weight down.
The trick is to eat new ways to find so you need to consume fewer calories than your whole body. But as it may seem that some people can eat loads and never gain weight? For example, leaner people may:
- eat little and often
- have low calories
- have low calorie snacks
- leave food on your plate means less calories consumed
- more active and energetic
In addition, food intake are sometimes hidden by portion size. As a result, some overweight people feel that they do not eat much, because they use only 2 or 3 meals per day, but in reality a lot of calories because the portions are so large. For example, a Chinese take-away meals contain as much as 1500 calories – 3/4 the total recommended daily intake for women.
Good news for the slow metabolism
Many overweight people tend to have a higher metabolic rate, help maintain weight loss when calories can be reduced. However, it is also important to keep your natural metabolism by eating regularly and an effective exercise routine suited to complement your specific body type and lifestyle.
